Destination weddings are becoming more popular. Couples and guests will travel to a specific destination such as the Caribbean or Las Vegas for their ceremony.
So, you're engaged! What now? How do you know where to start planning your wedding?

6-12 Months Before Your Wedding
Once the wedding date is set, you need to break down the wedding plans into smaller details.
Decide who will be financially responsible for what aspects of the wedding. Determine where you will get married and how expenses will be shared.
Talk to your family and friends. Get an organization system and hire a wedding coordinator or consultant.
Some of the critical tasks include:
- Schedule appointment with clergy
- Look into pre-marriage counselling or classes
- Determine what size you want your wedding
- Decide on attendants
- Gather ideas for themes, and colors for both wedding and reception
- Choose your reception location
- Select your caterer
- Select entertainment / music for reception
- Select florist and flower preferences
- Shop for wedding rings (typically as a couple)
- Select your wedding dress and headpiece -- and schedule fittings
- Choose bridesmaids' dresses
4 - 6 Months Prior To Wedding
- Find requirements for marriage license
- Coordinate with florist and decorator - theme and color schemes
- Shop for groom's tux and determine what the men will wear
- Order invitations
- Register for gift registry
- Select wedding ceremony music
- Order wedding favors
- Select cake and bakery
- Plan and make reservations for honeymoon
- Follow up with all vendors - double-check details
2 Months Until Wedding
- Mail invitations
- Plan rehearsal dinner
- Coordinate accomodations for out-of-town guests
- Purchase wedding day accessories
- Select hairdresser and makeup artist - schedule appointments
- Finalize honeymoon plans
1 Month Until Wedding
- Final fitting for wedding gown
- Final fittings for bridesmaids and male attendants
- Get marriage license
- Select outfit to wear when leaving reception
- Confirm all wedding day accessories
2 Weeks Until Wedding
- Finalize entertainment
- Finalize music
- Finalize dancing arrangements
- Pick up rings
1 Week Until Wedding
- Finalize seating arrangements for wedding ceremony
- Confirm honeymoon reservations
- Prepare for honeymoon - pack, get traveler's checks etc.
- Confirm accommodations and transportation for out-of-town guests
- Confirm arrival time with florist
- Wedding ceremony rehearsal
- Rehearsal dinner
- Get a good night's sleep before your wedding day
- Pamper yourself - get a massage, facial, manicure, and relax a little bit
Wedding Day!
- Give yourself plenty of time to get ready - hair, makeup, and getting dressed
- Bring wedding rings and marriage license
- Enjoy your day!
